I moved to San Carlos in 2020 and reside in a house built in the 1940s, much like most of the houses in the area. Since then, I have hired multiple contractors, electricians, handymen, plumbers, structural engineers, architects, etc. Some of them were very good, some were expensive, and I had some very bad experiences.

Recently, I attended a few parties where I saw newly moved-in neighbors asking for references. I wish I had a list to refer to and share with them all the great skilled tradesmen I had worked with.

Searching for a tradesman can be a daunting and time-consuming task. I’ve tried searching on Yelp, Google, Thumbtack, and asking for references on Nextdoor and Facebook groups. I have found that the best results came from my neighbors. To save some time and stress for my neighbors, I am putting together a list to distribute in the community. It will include verified work done in the neighborhood that I and my neighbors rely upon.

How verification works: I add providers after checking local homeowner references. For licensed trades, I also review license information and other public records when relevant. Each provider profile shows the license details I have published and a last verified month.

Listings are not paid placements. Contractor Reports are a separate homeowner service, and being listed here does not guarantee a positive report.
