FAQ
What is the purpose of this list?
Moving to a new neighborhood requires having local references of people you can trust. We are drowned in advertisements and flyers from various companies. I have made many mistakes hiring contractors, handymen, plumbers, etc. using those with varying experiences. Just at a recent party, we were sharing references. I would now like to help out my neighbors by sharing what I learned. Hoping this also gets more business to the tradesmen I enjoy working with.
Why only San Carlos and Belmont?
Tradesmen who work in a particular city are familiar with the codes and existing issues which are common. They are able to provide the best solution that they have seen work well. San Carlos and Belmont have very different conditions compared to San Jose or San Francisco.
This information is available on Yelp, Thumbtack, etc. whats different?
They are great resources. Online reviews can be managed, faked, and are not verified. Thumbtack charges tradesmen on every message you send. A lot of good local tradesmen are also not on those services. I have found some good tradesmen there, but this is a more curated and local list.
